Federal Agencies Launch Title IX Enforcement Team

Education secretary announces Joint Task Force that seeks to expedite investigations and uphold protections for female students.

The Departments of Education and Justice recently announced the creation of the Title IX Special Investigations Team (SIT) in response to a growing number of Title IX complaints. The team will consolidate experts from both departments to accelerate and standardize investigations into alleged violations of Title IX, particularly in matters affecting female students and athletes.

The initiative is intended to reduce case backlogs and improve the enforcement process, with an emphasis on protecting students’ rights under existing federal law. The team includes staff from the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights, Office of General Counsel, and Student Privacy and Protection Office, as well as attorneys from the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. The team will focus on prompt investigations and prepare cases for possible legal action.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said the “establishment of the Title IX SIT will benefit women and girls across this nation who have been subjected to discrimination and indignity in their educational activities… Traditionally, our Office for Civil Rights (OCR) takes months, even years, to complete Title IX investigations. OCR under this Administration has moved faster than it ever has, and the Title IX SIT will ensure even more rapid and consistent investigations.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary McMahon and Attorney General Bondi as they collaborate to address Title IX complaints.
  • For officials in the Departments of Education and Justice as they seek to protect the civil rights of female students under Title IX.
