Senator Warren advocated for the investigation after a federal judge blocked the pause of grants to the agency.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) recently announced it would investigate Fair Housing Agency cuts by President Trump’s administration. Senator Elizabeth Warren has voiced concerns about agency reductions and the cancellation of grants under the 1968 Fair Housing Act being made by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Senator Warren said that the plan to “cut 80% of HUD’s fair housing staff would harm families across the country who have experienced housing discrimination, whether it be a landlord refusing to make repairs to accommodate someone’s disability, or a Black family whose home is being appraised lower than it should. I look forward to closely following the results of GAO’s investigation.”
Last week, a federal judge in Massachusetts placed a hold against the cancellation of fair housing grants by HUD, ordering they be immediately reinstated. The president’s administration stated that cuts are needed to improve government efficiency and reduce spending.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senator Warren and her colleagues as they advocate for fair housing programs.
- For district and appellate judges as they hear and rule on cases regarding the attempts of the president’s administration to streamline the federal government.
- For wisdom for President Trump and DOGE personnel as they seek to increase government efficiency and eliminate wasteful spending.
