The department implements the policy they pledged for noncompliance after reverting Title IX protections to the original definition.
Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a freeze on U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funding for Maine. President Trump’s administration returned Title IX requirements to their original biological sex-based definition in February, reversing the previous administration’s update to include transgender students under discrimination protections. President Trump stated the change was necessary to protect female athletes.
The administration had warned the state of Maine after its Principals Association continued to allow transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports, implementing the suspension of federal funding.
“In order to continue to receive taxpayer dollars from USDA, the state of Maine must demonstrate compliance with Title IX, which protects female student athletes from having to compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males,” Secretary Rollins said in a letter to the state.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rollins to be led by the Lord as she heads the Department of Agriculture.
- For President Trump as he seeks to protect women and girls from competing against and sharing private spaces with biological male athletes.
