Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Donald Trump released a message on National Financial Literacy Month. The president stated, “The foundation of American economic prosperity is a society empowered with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions to achieve the American Dream. During National Financial Literacy Month, we commit to providing critical resources for every American, young and old, helping them invest in a brighter, more secure future.”
Pray for the president and his economic advisors as they seek to improve economic opportunities for the American people.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky introduced the Dual Loyalty Disclosure Act last month. The legislation would amend the Federal Election Campaign Act to require that candidates for federal office disclose the foreign country (or countries) in which they hold dual citizenship. The congressman said, “If we are going to continue to allow Members of Congress to acquire and retain citizenship in other countries, they should at least be required to disclose to voters all countries of which they consider themselves to be citizens.“
Pray for members of Congress as they seek to ensure their colleagues vote in the best interests of the U.S.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, held a hearing on the bill the chairman introduced to restrict federal judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions. He stated, “More than two-thirds of all universal injunctions issued over the past 25 years were levied against the first Trump administration. In the past two months alone, judges have issued at least 15 universal injunctions against the administration—surpassing the 14 President Biden faced throughout his four-year term.”
Pray for members of Congress as they seek to ensure the Judicial Branch does not encroach on Executive Branch authority.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A federal judge dismissed the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams “with prejudice.” That means the Department of Justice will be unable to file those charges against the mayor, who had pled not guilty, using the same evidence. The judge stated that a dismissal “without prejudice” would support a perception that Mayor Adams “might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents.”
Pray for district court judges to be prudent in their decisions and rulings regarding the federal government.
