When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. – Psalm 94:19
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Charles Dickens may have lived in the early 1800s, but his words reflect the feelings of many right now in the 21st century. Uncertainties in March may carry into the month of April, as some are unsure of employment or health, or just plain fearful. When your life has unplanned complications, you may feel unrest in your mind and body. That makes the verse for today even more meaningful.
When the cares of your heart are many, you can still have joy and peace in your being. Though you witness confusion and strife, you can be strong and calm in the Lord. It is up to you, as a child of God, to be His living testimony, abiding in His peace that will carry you through any storm. It may not be easy and could even result in loss. But keeping your eyes on the eternal rather than the temporal keeps you grounded in what is most important.
When words cause strife and agitation between groups of people, be careful. If someone speaks to incite fear, resist. God is still in control. Be wise. Intercede for those in high positions in the government, that their words and actions would be in the best interest of this nation and bring glory to God. Pray unceasingly and seek His will.

17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame injustice by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
