President Donald Trump has called today “Liberation Day” as tariffs on a variety of imports go into effect. The reciprocal tariffs are intended to balance U.S. trade with international trading partners, support domestic manufacturing, and potentially encourage foreign leaders to consider trade agreements.

Referring to the imbalanced tariffs from other nations, President Trump said, “Over the decades, they ripped us off like no country has ever been ripped off in history and we’re going to be much nicer than they were to us, but it’s substantial money for the country.”
President Trump said of the tariffs when he spoke before Congress last month, “Whatever they tax us, we tax them.” He said that April 2 “is a liberation day for our country because we’re going to be getting back a lot of the wealth that we so foolishly gave up to other countries.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to receive God’s direction as he pursues strategies to improve the U.S. economy.
- For U.S. Trade Representative Greer and Commerce Secretary Lutnick as they implement the president’s agenda and offer recommendations.
- For the Lord’s plans and purposes to be accomplished in the United States.
