DOJ Proposes Path to Firearm Ownership for Reformed Offenders

The rule has been filed with the Federal Register and opened to public comment.

The U.S. Department of Justice proposed an interim rule to allow people who have been convicted of a crime to own firearms again. The move comes as Attorney General Pam Bondi complies with President Donald Trump’s order to review federal gun policies. The purpose is to restore Second Amendment rights to those whose conduct has been reformed.

The notice filed with the Federal Register would support laws to restrict gun ownership for “violent and dangerous” people. The department is exploring ways to provide an “appropriate avenue” for those who have shown “a combination of the nature of their past criminal activity and their subsequent and current law-abiding behavior.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Bondi to receive God’s wisdom as she heads the Justice Department.
  • For President Trump to be discerning as he seeks to restore gun rights to reformed offenders.
