Training Your Brain

The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. – 2 Corinthians 10:4

What is the biggest challenge of your faith journey today? Regardless of your answer to that question, your thought patterns contribute to the battle, positively or negatively. Modern psychology affirms Biblical wisdom which reveals that your thoughts are the engine that drives your actions.

The battle against sin takes place predominately in your mind. Doubts about God’s love and goodness undermine your trust in Him, enticing you to grasp for power and control. Each mental reflection awaits expression through your words and actions.

You can overcome the internal onslaught of troubling thoughts. The resurrection victory of Jesus Christ includes the power to transform your mind. And there are practical ways to allow God to change your thoughts. Try this experiment. Ask God to reveal to you where your thinking is taking you away from His good plans and into sin. Then, the next time you find your mind entertaining doubt or condemnation towards yourself or others, STOP immediately and ask yourself, “How do my thoughts match up to Scripture right now?” (This is where knowing God’s Word is extremely helpful.) Then, as you imagine how the scriptures apply to your situation, you begin training your brain to think them!

Intercede for those serving in elected office in America to join you in yielding the meditations of their mind to the power of God. And be encouraged today as you learn to replace the stumbling blocks to your faith.

Today’s Verse: 2 Corinthians 10:4

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
