Elon Musk will join White House Counsel to uncover how reporter’s number added to chat.
The White House has tapped Elon Musk and members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to help investigate how Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was added to a high-level group chat that discussed the planned timeline for U.S. airstrikes against Yemen.
“The National Security Council, the White House Counsel’s Office, and also yes, Elon Musk’s team,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Wednesday when asked who was leading an investigation into the Signal mishap.
“Elon Musk has offered to put his technical experts on this to figure out how this number was inadvertently added to the chat, again to take responsibility and ensure this can never happen again,” she added.
The White House press secretary reiterated that, while this was an oversight, no classified information was shared in this group chat.
