They address the accidental inclusion of a reporter in a high-level defense discussion on Signal chat.
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Central Intelligence Agency Director John Ratcliffe testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding the accidental inclusion of a journalist in a Signal chat with high-level Cabinet members. Committee Chair Tom Cotton of Arkansas affirmed that the chat had been approved for recordkeeping requirements under the previous administration and that President Trump’s administration had simply continued the policy.
Director Ratcliffe confirmed that the secure chat program had been authorized, saying, “One of the things that I was briefed on very early, Senator, was by the CIA records management folks about—about the use of Signal as a permissible work use. It is. That is a practice that preceded the current administration to the Biden administration.”
Regarding allegations that the chat had been used for top secret war plans, DNI Gabbard testified, “There was no classified material that was shared in that signal chat.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for President Trump and his Cabinet members as they use communication authorized by the prior administration.
- For Director Ratcliffe and DNI Gabbard to seek God’s guidance as they oversee the U.S. intelligence community.
