VOA Employees Placed on Administrative Leave

USAGM staff face uncertainty amid federal agency reduction efforts.

Voice of America (VOA) employees were placed on administrative leave with full pay and benefits following an executive order from President Donald Trump. The order directed seven federal agencies, including the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), to reduce operations and staff. Employees were instructed not to access their worksites or agency systems without approval. However, Staff are expected to remain reachable during business hours and may be required to return to work on short notice.

The administration order stated it “continues the reduction in the elements of the Federal bureaucracy that the President has determined are unnecessary.”

President Trump appointed Kari Lake, former TV anchor and Arizona political candidate, as VOA’s new head, while conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III was nominated to lead USAGM. The bias of VOA’s coverage has led to calls for the agency’s shutdown, including from Elon Musk.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisors as they seek to bring government spending and outlays down.
  • For those who have experienced layoffs or administrative leave to find stable employment.
