U.S. Navy Announces End of Funding for Abortion Travel

The service branches had offered paid leave and reimbursement for travel for abortions under the previous administration.

The U.S. Navy announced this month that the Defense Travel Management Office has officially rescinded by paid leave or reimbursement for travel for service members to get abortions. After the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision returned the regulation of abortion to the states, President Biden’s administration enacted the reimbursement and leave policy for abortions.

“Taxpayer dollars will not be used to fund, promote, or reimburse Service Members of dependents for elective abortion-related travel expenses,” the Navy’s announcement stated. “The policy applies to both active and reserve sailors and Marines who are seeking the services or accompanying a spouse or dependent.”

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth affirmed… what I’ve been fighting for since I got to Washington: zero taxpayer dollars should go towards abortions,” said Senator Tommy Tuberville, who had long stood up for the Hyde Amendment that prohibits taxpayer dollars going toward abortions. “Under President Trump and Secretary Hegseth’s leadership, the Pentagon will once again be focused on lethality, not pushing a political agenda.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Secretary of the Navy Terence Emmert to be led by God as he oversees the Navy and Marine Corps.
  • For Secretary Pete Hegseth to receive guidance from the Lord as he heads the Department of Defense.
