President Donald Trump warned the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist group in Yemen about continued attacks in the Middle East. The group has targeted U.S., Israeli, and allied vessels in the Red Sea region since Hamas attacked Israel October 7, 2023. The president also advised Iran that the U.S. would hold them accountable for the Houthi’s actions.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth addressed operations being conducted by the U.S. Central Command to counter Houthi forces as the latter continue to target U.S. military and commercial ships.
“Freedom of navigation is basic; it’s a core national interest,” Secretary Hegseth said, “The minute the Houthis say, ‘We’ll stop shooting at your ships [and] we’ll stop shooting at your drones,’ this campaign will end but, until then, it will be unrelenting.”
He added, “The message is clear to Iran… Your support of the Houthis needs to end immediately. We will hold you accountable as the sponsor of this proxy, and I echo [the president’s] statement [that] we will not be nice about it.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to to bring an end to international conflicts and increase U.S. national security.
- For Defense Secretary Hegseth to be discerning as he heads the campaign to stop the Houthi attacks against U.S. and allied vessels.
- For God to strengthen and protect U.S. military personnel stationed around the globe.
