Representative Gill says the judge’s order to return the deportation flight “tramples on the Constitution.“
Congressman Brandon Gill of Texas announced his resolution to introduce articles of impeachment against District Judge James Boasberg on Monday for attempting to usurp the constitutional authority of the executive branch. The judge had ordered a flight deporting Venezuelan members of Tren de Aragua, along with two MS-13 gang leaders, to El Salvador to return to the U.S. during a lawsuit hearing over the weekend. President Donald Trump had designated the gang as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and then invoked the Alien Enemies Act to deport them.
Representative Gill said, “The American people gave us a mandate to get criminal illegal aliens out of our country, and that’s exactly what we intend to do.”
“Judge Boasberg has gravely overstepped his authority, usurping the constitutional power of the Commander in Chief,” Congressman Gill added. “President Trump is securing America’s neighborhoods, restoring safety for men, women, and children who call this nation home. We will not tolerate radical, politically motivated judges illegally and unconstitutionally stopping the President from carrying out his mandate.”
