House Passes Subterranean Border Defense Act

All but one representative voted in favor of the measure to address tunnels under the U.S. border.

The House passed the Subterranean Border Defense Act last week, sending a measure that would address tunnels constructed below the U.S.-Mexico border to the Senate for its approval.

Representative Elijah Crane of Arizona, the legislator who introduced the bill, said during the floor debate ahead of the vote, “Since 1990, officials have discovered more than 140 tunnels that have breached the U.S. border with an 80 percent increase in tunnel activity occurring since 2008.”

“With border crossings thankfully going down since January, I think it’s safe to assume this will drive threats to our border underground through these tunnels,” Congressman Crane added.

The sole vote cast against the measure was by Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate as they consider the legislation that seeks to identify a significant border security risk.
  • For House Speaker Johnson and Majority Leader Thune as they head their respective congressional chambers.
