Today, President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum are set to go into effect. The president stated that the tariffs are to counter trade practices that undermine national security and “to protect America’s critical steel and aluminum industries, which have been harmed by unfair trade practices and global excess capacity.”

Canada backed off its threat to impose 25 percent tariffs on electricity to the U.S. as Commerce Secretary Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Greer will meet with Canadian officials on Thursdays to discuss updates to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is traveling to Charlevoix, Canada, today for the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting after having met with officials in Saudi Arabia to discuss peace in Ukraine. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said, “Secretary Rubio’s engagements will further U.S. interests in peace and security, strategic cooperation, and global stability.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he seeks to protect national security and balance tariffs on imports and exports.
- For Secretary of State Rubio to be discerning as he engages foreign ministers at the G7 meeting.
- For members of the Senate as they continue to conduct confirmation hearings for the president’s nominees to federal offices.
