State Attorneys General Sue President’s Administration Over Mass Layoffs

They allege the firings violate mandatory 60-day notice.

Attorneys general from Washington D.C. and 19 states sued President Trump’s administration last week for its mass layoffs of federal workers. The plaintiffs allege that this action by the White House Office of Personnel Management (OPM) violates a federal law requiring the executive branch to provide 60 days’ notice for any “reduction in force” operations. This is the fourth lawsuit challenging the mass layoffs.

“These large-scale, indiscriminate firings are not only subjecting the Plaintiff States and communities across the country to chaos. They are also against the law,” the lawsuit states. “This campaign has inflicted immense harms on tens of thousands of probationary employees and their families.“

The plaintiffs requested the court halt the layoffs, stating, “States are now left to pick up the pieces of the shattered federal workforce — addressing numerous unemployment compensation requests and helping our residents seek new jobs as each new wave of terminations crests.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For federal judges to receive God’s wisdom as they hear challenges to the actions of President Trump’s administration.
  • For the president, department heads, and DOGE personnel as they seek to reduce the size of the federal government and cut spending.
