Some members of Congressman Green’s own party cited the breach in protocol and propriety.
On Thursday, the House of Representatives formally censured Representative Al Green of Texas after he interrupted and heckled President Donald Trump during his address to the joint session of Congress on Tuesday evening. House Speaker Mike Johnson instructed the sergeant at arms to remove the congressman after giving warnings to return to order.
Several members of the majority party introduced resolutions to censure Congressman Green after the president’s speech concluded.
Some members of the minority voted in favor of the censure, citing the deference due the President of the United States, saying that the outburst was a “big mistake,” and that it was inappropriate to interrupt and “pull those stunts.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson to seek God’s direction as he presides over the House of Representatives.
- For members of Congress to be thoughtful, ethical, and act with decorum in their debates and deliberations.
