Issue 688 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The Justice Department filed judicial misconduct charges against District Judge Ana Reyes. The U.S. attorney general’s chief of staff accused the federal judge of “hostile and egregious misconduct“ during a hearing regarding President Donald Trump’s executive order that bars transgender applicants from joining the U.S. Armed Forces.

Pray for the attorney general and Justice Department officials as they seek to defend President Trump’s orders and policies in federal courts.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senators Steve Daines of Montana and John Boozman of Arkansas introduced the Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2025. The legislation would prohibit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) from banning the use of lead tackle or ammunition on public lands. The House passed the measure in the previous Congress, and Representative Rob Wittman of Virginia reintroduced the act in the House last month.

Pray for senators and representatives as they seek to protect the use of ammunition and tackle on public lands.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Subcommittee on Military and Foreign Affairs, chaired by Representative William Timmons of South Carolina, held a hearing this week on “Emerging Global Threats: Putting America’s National Security First.” Congressman Timmons stated, “It is imperative for the safety of Americans at home and abroad that the United States achieves peace through strength and re-centers our foreign policy on the advancement of U.S. interests.“

Pray for chairs and members of both House and Senate committees and subcommittees as they address issues facing the nation.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear challenges from pro-life activists who claimed that prohibiting protests or having demonstration-free zones near abortion clinics is a violation of the freedom of speech under the First Amendment. Justices Alito and Thomas dissented from the majority.

Pray for federal judges and justices as they hear and rule on cases involving the Bill of Rights, particularly regarding freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
