President Trump states that the tariffs are “on schedule.”
Canada and Mexico have increased their border monitoring operations ahead of tariff negotiations with U.S. officials later this week. Mexico has sent national guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border and Canada created a fentanyl czar and classified cartels as terrorist entities.
The United States has historically granted tariff and import exemptions to both Canada and Mexico, but President Donald Trump has set a March 4 deadline to implement a number of 25 percent tariffs if the countries’ border security programs have not achieved the desired results. Meetings that will be held between the three countries will assess whether President Trump’s administration implements the tariffs or not.
President Trump said on Monday that “the tariffs are going forward on time, on schedule.” The president reiterated his position on reciprocal tariffs, to match what other nations are charging the U.S.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he seeks to balance trade and tariffs with border security efforts.
- For wisdom for the president as he prepares to continue negotiations with Canada and Mexico.
