Senators Introduce Legislation to Support President Trump’s Iron Dome

The bill would shift the duties of the current missile defense system to the military and make the MDA in charge of the development of new missile defense.

Senators Dan Sullivan of Alaska and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota recently introduced legislation to support President Donald Trump’s executive order calling for the development of a new missile defense shield.

Senator Sullivan stated, “Senator Cramer and I are introducing legislation to build a homeland missile defense system that can protect our country from the intensifying threats and growing arsenals of China and Russia.”

The legislation proposes a $19.5 billion budget for the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) 2026 fiscal year, nearly double the $10.4 billion requested by the agency for the 2025 fiscal year. It also proposes transferring the duties of the agency, which involve the sustaining and operating of America’s current missile defense system, to the military, allowing MDA to focus entirely on the research and development of a new missile defense system.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the senators as they seek to improve the nation’s missile defense system.
  • For wisdom for members of Congress as they consider legislation to strengthen the president’s order on the Iron Dome system.
