He says the previous administration’s directive hindered companies with “unnecessary government control.”
President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month revoking the protection plan for artificial intelligence (AI) placed by President Biden’s administration. President Trump stated the reset was necessary to develop a new AI action plan “free from ideological bias.” During the signing, President Trump said the prior directive hindered innovation and imposed “onerous and unnecessary government control” on those who develop and deploy the technology.

AI companies were quick to launch expedited research programs that promise everything from organizational streamlining to aiding in cancer diagnosis. Some tech officials remain concerned by the lack of federal protections on information privacy, civil rights, and labor rights during the six months.
