22 State AGs support OPM’s “Fork Directive” federal employee buyout.
On Monday, District Court Judge George O’Toole indefinitely extended the deadline for federal workers to accept a functional buyout offer from President Trump’s administration.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) sent an email to 2 million federal employees last month, offering them full pay and benefits until September if they agreed to a deferred resignation by February 6. Labor unions cautioned their members against taking this offer and subsequently sued President Trump’s administration for this offer.
Judge O’Toole first extended the deferred resignation offer deadline until Monday before extending it indefinitely to allow the courts time to process the lawsuits against the offer.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said last week President Trump’s administration was pleased with the extension. “We are grateful to the judge for extending the deadline so more federal workers who refuse to show up to the office can take the Administration up on this very generous, once-in-a-lifetime offer,” she stated.
The state attorneys general from 22 states filed an amicus curiae brief in the case on Sunday, stating, “Courts should refrain from intruding into the President’s well-settled Article II authority to supervise and manage the federal workforce.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and U.S. DOGE Service personnel as they seek to reduce federal agency spending.
- For wisdom for the judges who are hearing challenges to the president’s actions and policies.
