House minority members introduce bill to restrict access to taxpayer data.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reported that the U.S. DOGE Service is not touching the department’s payment system. However, other agencies may make decisions regarding stopping payments. The government efficiency personnel have just been given “read-only access“ to the payment systems.
Secretary Bessent said that the DOGE study is expected to increase accountability and accuracy, tracing money sent by the Treasury Department to make certain it reaches the intended recipients.
The treasury secretary said, “In terms of payments being stopped, that is happening upstream at the department level.”
Members of the House minority have introduced legislation that would limit access to private taxpayer data to only federal employees with certain security clearance or qualifications.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Bessent to receive God’s direction as he oversees the Treasury Department.
- For discernment for the DOGE personnel as they perform audits of various federal departments.
