President Trump ordered the Gulf of Mexico be changed to the Gulf of America, and Mount Denali to revert to Mount McKinley.
Google Maps in the U.S. will rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and Denali as Mount McKinley, following the executive order issued by President Trump. The changes will take effect when they are updated in the Geographic Names Information System—the official government database.
Google explained that its naming policies align with official government sources and that names may appear differently in other countries. The U.S. Department of the Interior announced the renaming last week, stating that the decision intends to honor American heritage and historical figures.
Mount McKinley was renamed under President Obama to acknowledge indigenous Alaskan heritage. Although other nations and international organizations may continue using the previous terms, U.S. government documents will reflect the new names.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he seeks to preserve American heritage and history.
- For wisdom for the president and members of his administration as they implement foreign and domestic policies.
