Federal Funding and Tax Cuts

President Donald Trump is promoting the extension of his 2017 tax cuts in addition to other tax breaks and spending. The cost of the president’s agenda is projected to be offset by economic growth as well as tariffs and the savings accumulated by the result of DOGE financial auditing.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise are heading efforts this weekend to finalize appropriations to fund the federal government.

The legislators have been negotiating to find ways to make the government spending bill filibuster-proof.

“We are almost there,” Speaker Johnson said. “A couple final details that we’ve got to work out.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the House leadership as they work on the details of government spending legislation.
  • For members of the Senate majority as they assess the provisions that might trigger a filibuster of the federal funding.
  • For President Trump to be discerning in his requests and requirements from Congress
