Issue 685 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

President Donald Trump signed an order removing the United States from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and ending funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for the Near East (UNRWA). The president pointed out how the UNHRC has shielded countries committing atrocities and that many UNRWA staff members were participants in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Pray for the president and his administration officials to be led by God as they seek to ensure taxpayer funds are used for beneficial purposes.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Representative Al Green of Texas announced that he will bring articles of impeachment against President Trump for his plan for the U.S. to take over control of Gaza. The congressman called the president’s plan “ethnic cleansing.”

Pray for discernment for members of the House and Senate as they address the president’s actions and agenda.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

A new Select Subcommittee on January 6 is now under the House Judiciary Committee’s jurisdiction. The subcommittee is working to expose all evidence and testimony suppressed by the previous select committee surrounding President Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021, including his request for 10,000 National Guard troops to keep peace. The prior committee had also refused offers from the Secret Service to testify that would have refuted existing testimony.

Pray for chairs and members of the congressional committees as they investigate and provide oversight.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals recently struck down a 1968 federal ban on 18 to 20-year-olds purchasing handguns as unconstitutional. Judge Edith Jones wrote in the opinion, “The text of the Second Amendment includes eighteen-to-twenty-year-old individuals among ‘the people’ whose right to keep and bear arms is protected.“

Pray for federal judges as they hear cases regarding restrictions to the Bill of Rights.
