The long-standing policy blocked taxpayer funding of abortion.
President Donald Trump reinstated the Mexico City policy, barring the sending of taxpayer funds to foreign non-governmental agencies that support or conduct abortions. He also strengthened the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funds from being used for abortion.
The president’s memorandum stated, “I further direct the Secretary of State to take all necessary actions, to the extent permitted by law, to ensure that U.S. taxpayer dollars do not fund organizations or programs that support or participate in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”
“It is the policy of the United States, consistent with the Hyde Amendment, to end the forced use of Federal taxpayer dollars to fund or promote elective abortion,” President Trump’s order said.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also revoked the reimbursement of transportation costs for service members traveling to obtain an abortion.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump as he implements pro-life policies and reinstates the restrictions of federal funding for abortions.
- For Secretary Hegseth and U.S. military officials as they follow defense regulations passed by Congress.
