President Trump Says Microsoft Interested in Buying TikTok

Indicates a growing number of companies have shown interest and the potential for a “bidding war.”

President Donald Trump said this week that technology companies have been showing “a lot of interest” in purchasing TikTok to keep the popular social media app operational in the United States. The president’s pause on the federal ban of the app requires TikTok’s parent company ByteDance to divest from TikTok within three months, which would involve selling the app to an American-based company.

When asked if Microsoft was one of the companies in talks for the purchase of TikTok, President Trump replied, “I would say yes.” The president did not share which other companies were interested in the popular video-sharing app, but said he looked forward to future negotiations.

“I like bidding wars because you make your best deal. So if there’s a bidding war, that’s a good thing,” said President Trump.

Among those reportedly interested in buying the app are former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, billionaire Kevin O’Leary of “Shark Tank,“ and Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump to be discerning as he seeks American buyers to keep TikTok functioning in the U.S.
  • For U.S. officials as they assess the threat of foreign technology to Americans’ privacy and information.
