Nominee for Director of National Intelligence Answers Questions

Senators query Gabbard on support of NSA whistleblower.

Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee questioned President Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday. She was asked about her previous support of former NSA contractor whistleblower Edward Snowden for releasing top-secret intelligence documents.

“I think it would befit you, and be helpful to the way you are perceived by members of the intelligence community,” Senator Todd Young of Indiana said during the hearing, “if you would at least acknowledge the greatest whistleblower in American history, so-called, harmed national security by breaking the laws of the land.”

Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma also pressed Gabbard to call Snowden a traitor.

“Senator, I’m focused on the future and how we can prevent something like this from happening again,” the DNI nominee replied.

Of her claim of bringing independent thinking to the role, Chair Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas stated, “Maybe Washington could use a little more unconventional thinking.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Senators as they prepare for and consider the president’s remaining nominees for confirmation.
  • For the president and his administration officials to be discerning in their actions and decisions.
