Congress authorized the department temporary access to Social Security’s “Full Death Master File.”
The U.S. Treasury announced the prevention and recovery of over $31 million in payments to dead people under a pilot program through temporary access to the Social Security Administration’s Full Death Master File.
“These results are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Fiscal Assistant Secretary David Lebryk. “Congress granting permanent access to the Full Death Master File will significantly reduce fraud, improve program integrity, and better safeguard taxpayer dollars.”
The Social Security Administration’s database is the most complete record of Americans who have passed away, with information dating back to 1899. The Treasury Department was granted access to the Full Death Master file for three years by Congress under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant Secretary Lebryk to be led by the Lord as he facilitates the recovery of fraudulent payments.
- For President Trump’s nominee for Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as he completes the Senate confirmation process.
