Record-breaking contracts, the Future Soldier Prep Course, and revamped recruitment strategies drive the Army’s turnaround after years of challenges.
The U.S. Army announced the service is on track to achieve its 2025 recruitment goals. Officials project 61,000 new enlistments by the end of the fiscal year and an additional 20,000 in its delayed entry program for 2026. Recruitment strategies also improved through better recruiter selection, faster processing of waivers, and enhanced data-driven marketing campaigns.
Before leaving office, the former Army secretary said that fears of injury, family separation, and stalled career progress were significant deterrents. Despite previous struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic and a competitive job market, the Army has reversed its downward trend with innovative approaches. The pandemic suspended in-person recruiting and closed enlistment stations.
Without receiving a waiver, only 23 percent of young American adults currently meet the physical, mental, and emotional standards for recruitment.
