Issue 683 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

This week, President Trump revoked security clearances for 51 former intelligence officials who signed a letter in 2020 claiming that the story regarding former first son Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation. In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, polls showed that if voters had known the laptop story was true it could have changed the election outcome by as much as 17 percent, making the intelligence officials’ letter election interference.

Pray for President Trump and officials in his administration as they seek to clear corruption out of the federal government.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota questioned Senator Chris Murphy’s block of a vote on Tuesday to confirm former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Senator Thune said, “This is about America’s national security interests. And we’re stalling. … We’re going to file cloture on them. You can force us to stay here… we’re going to vote on them.”

Pray for Senators as the president’s appointees approved by their respective committees come to the floor for a vote.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

Members of the minority party in the Senate Judiciary Committee invoked a rule that allows a 7-day hold on any agenda item to delay Wednesday’s meeting on the nomination of Pam Bondi for U.S. Attorney General.

Pray for members of Senate committees as they consider the president’s nominees.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a ruling in favor of Texas regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals regulation former President Biden’s administration had tried to expand, a measure introduced by President Obama. Several state attorneys general had brought the legal challenge due to increased health care and education costs. However, the ruling was limited to Texas.

Pray for judges and justices of the federal judiciary as they hear and rule on cases involving immigration and citizenship.
