The funding will support facility modernization and 250 additional jobs in Corvallis, Oregon.
The Commerce Department awarded technology company HP $53 million earlier this month to expand its research and development facilities in Corvallis, Oregon.
The funding will be distributed at predetermined milestones for the planned expansion, as outlined by the memorandum of understanding reached last August. These expansions will support around 150 construction jobs and 100 manufacturing jobs, and will help the company refine the manufacturing process for silicon devices used by critical biological lab equipment.
“Companies like HP are developing the technologies that will spur unprecedented breakthroughs for generations to come,” said outgoing Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. “By investing in companies and R&D projects across the semiconductor ecosystem, the Biden-Harris administration is helping to build and secure the domestic semiconductor capabilities that will help the United States continue to out-compete and out-build the rest of the world.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and his incoming Commerce Department secretary to seek God’s guidance regarding funding for research and development.
- For discernment for U.S. officials as they consider the role of government in the technology industry.
