DOI Announces $514 Million for Western Water Storage Projects

Three states receive funding for dams, reservoirs, and water pipelines.

The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced $514 million for five water storage and conveyance projects in four Western states.

California is set to use this funding to expand a water reservoir by raising the B.F. Sisk Dam and developing 1.5 acre-feet of new water storage off the Sacramento River system. Colorado will install nearly 10 miles of pipeline to provide clean drinking water to communities relying on contaminated water sources. Idaho will also raise its Anderson Ranch Dam, and Washington will increase the capacity of its Cle Elum Pool.

“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda has allowed us to begin work on long overdue water storage projects, providing clean, reliable drinking water to families, farmers, and Tribes throughout the West,” said Secretary Deb Haaland. “The investments we’re announcing today will continue to fund these important efforts, expediting essential water storage projects and providing increased water security to Western communities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Haaland to be led by the Lord as she finishes the current term.
  • For U.S. interior officials as they seek to support Western water conservation and storage.
