Florida congressman expresses opposition to the action.
President Joe Biden issued an executive order delisting Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism this week. The delisting also removes sanctions that have been placed on Cuba.
The president stated, “The Government of Cuba has not provided any support for international terrorism during the preceding 6-month period; and The Government of Cuba has provided assurances that it will not support acts of international terrorism in the future.“
Representative Jared Moskowitz expressed concern over the president’s decision, saying, “Just as we try to patch the hole in the boat, Biden punches another hole in it.“
President Trump is expected to reverse the action. His nominee for Secretary of State. Senator Marco Rubio, began the Senate confirmation process before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this week. The senator from Florida is also of Cuban descent.
“The foreign policy of the United States will be set by the president, and my job is to advise on it and ultimately to execute,“ Senator Rubio told the committee. “I think the president has been abundantly clear, and that his policy is about making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.“
The future U.S. secretary of state was sanctioned by China after writing a bill to ban imports from the Xinjiang region and accusing China of a “grotesque campaign of genocide” against Uyghur Muslims.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Congressman Moskowitz and officials in Florida as they seek to maintain the state’s safety as the closest in proximity to Cuba.
- For Senator Rubio to be discerning as he goes through the Senate confirmation process to be head of the State Department.
