President-elect calls for retention of records and documents.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation began to shut down its Office of Diversity and Inclusion last month. The bureau made the announcement just this week about the closure, stating, “In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024.“
President-elect Donald Trump responded with a call to retain all records, documents, and information. He said the office should never have been opened, questioned why it was being closed prior to the inauguration, and called it corrupt.
Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee also asked, “Why were they allowed to be focused on DEI in the first place? The FBI should be focused on catching criminals, not winning participation trophies.”
In the aftermath of the New Year’s Day attack on New Orleans, Senator Blackburn wrote to outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray, saying, “I am deeply concerned that — under your leadership — the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people.”
The senator added, “Your focus on woke DEI initiatives at the FBI has endangered our national security and the lives of all Americans.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president-elect’s nominee for FBI Director Kash Patel as he goes through the confirmation process.
- For wisdom for President Trump and officials of the incoming administration as they seek to increase national and homeland security.
