President Joe Biden will sign proclamations at the White House today to establish the Chuckwalla National Monument and the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument in California.
The president was supposed to announce the designations of the two monuments to honor tribes last week, but had to cancel due to the high winds that spread wildfires all over Los Angeles County. The red flag warning has been extended through Wednesday for Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The county’s medical examiner reported that at least 24 people have died due to the Palisades and Eaton fires.
The Senate Armed Services Committee, chaired by Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi, is holding a hearing to examine the expected nomination of Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, chaired by Senator Mike Lee of Utah, will consider the expected nomination of Doug Burgum for Interior Secretary.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his advisors to receive God’s guidance as they make final commemorations and other actions this week.
- For strength and resources for the firefighters who are endeavoring to contain the wildfires in California.
- For God’s comfort for residents of both California and North Carolina who have lost loved ones and homes to the respective devastations.
- For wisdom for members of the Senate as they begin to conduct confirmation hearings for incoming administration nominees.
