About a dozen nominees will be examined by committees this week.
Senate Committees will hold nearly a dozen nomination meetings for President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet expected nominees this week, beginning the high-profile review process with Pete Hegseth. The former Fox News host and Army National Guard officer is the nominee for Defense Secretary and is scheduled to meet with the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday morning.
Hegseth, who has also been a director of a nonprofit veterans group, is one of the nominees expected to field intense questioning from both sides of the aisle, with some questioning his character and his qualifications to head U.S. defense policy. Many of President Trump’s nominees are expected to be confirmed with little issue.
These initial meetings will not question the appointees themselves, as they are unable to be nominated officially until President Trump is inaugurated next week. The Senate committees will be gathering information this week for the hearings to come.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Chair Roger Wicker as he prepares the committee for the confirmation of President Trump’s defense secretary nominee.
- For members of the Senate committees to be discerning as they gather information on the incoming appointees.
- For wisdom for the president-elect and his announced nominees for Cabinet roles as they prepare for office.
