In the News…
Judge Aileen Cannon of the Southern Florida U.S. District Court granted a request for emergency relief from President Trump’s co-defendants in the case of alleged mishandling of classified documents. Special Counsel Jack Smith has been enjoined from releasing the Final Report on the case.
The request was based on the court deeming the special counsel’s appointment unconstitutional, removing his authority to issue the report or any drafts of it.
Judge Cannon issued a decision temporarily enjoining the attorney general or any other Justice Department officials “from (a) releasing, sharing, or transmitting the Final Report or any drafts of such Report outside the Department of Justice, or (b) otherwise releasing, distributing, conveying, or sharing with anyone outside the Department of Justice any information or conclusions in the Final Report or in drafts thereof.“
