In the News…
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has sponsored the Laken Riley Act in the upper chamber. The House of Representatives passed the act on Tuesday.
The act would require illegal migrants who have committed non-violent crimes to remain in custody. The measure is named after the Georgia nursing student who was killed by an illegal alien who had previously been arrested for shoplifting. Had he remained in custody, he would not have been free to kill Laken Riley.
Senator Fetterman’s office stated, “Laken Riley’s story is a tragic reminder of what’s at stake when our systems fail to protect people. No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to preventable violence.“
The senator said in an interview, “If you’re here illegally and you’re committing crimes, I don’t know why anybody thinks that it’s controversial, that they all need to go.”
