Monday, January 6

The White House announced that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are traveling to New Orleans today to “grieve with the families and community members impacted by the tragic attack on Jan. 1 and meet with officials on the ground.” The New Year’s terrorist attack in the French Quarter killed 14 people and injured at least 35.

Today is the scheduled day for the certification of the 2024 presidential election, won by President-elect Donald Trump in November. The ability to certify the outcome hinges on the House of Representatives electing a speaker to convene the 119th Congress.

The U.S. Capitol Police has increased its force and made preparations for security for the certification of the 2024 presidential election. The department stated that they “have already been ramping up security, as planned, ahead of a busy month at the U.S. Capitol.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For safe travels for the president and first lady and for God’s comfort for those grieving the loss of loved ones who died in the attack.
  • For USCP Chief J. Thomas Manger to seek God’s guidance as he oversees security on Capitol Hill.
  • For incoming congressional party leaders to be discerning as they prepare to certify the presidential election results.
  • For President Biden and President-elect Trump and members of their staffs as they prepare for the transition of administrations in two weeks.
