Vice President Kamala Harris presided over a joint session of Congress on Monday in which the 2024 presidential election results were formally tallied and certified.
Former President Donald Trump and Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio were certified as receiving 312 electoral votes while Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota received 226.
President Trump is the second U.S. president to win non-consecutive presidential terms. The first president to do so was Grover Cleveland, who served as the 22nd and 24th president of the United States.
