Acting under secretary alleges governments attempted to access the Trump and Harris presidential campaigns
The Treasury Department sanctioned government officials from Iran and Russia this week for their alleged attempts to disrupt the 2024 U.S. election. Affiliate organizations of these governments were found to have attempted to hack the election campaigns of both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The department also claims that these organizations regularly published online content that intended to increase socio-political tensions among U.S. citizens.
“The Governments of Iran and Russia have targeted our election processes and institutions and sought to divide the American people through targeted disinformation campaigns,” said Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bradley Smith. “The United States will remain vigilant against adversaries who would undermine our democracy.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Acting Under Secretary Smith to seek God’s direction as he oversees his office.
- For discernment for Secretary Yellen and Treasury Department officials as they assess the use and imposition of sanctions against adversarial nations.
