Congress Reauthorizes Economic Development Administration

Commerce secretary commends the reauthorization.

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo celebrated Congress’s reauthorization of the Economic Development Administration (EDA) this month, a Commerce Department agency that has not been reauthorized since 2004. The EDA operated informally during that time, but its formalization will allow it to officially partner with a variety of institutions to increase and support every level of the American workforce.

“This bipartisan support from Congress will allow EDA to evolve, modernize, and provide the services that communities across the nation need to build resilient, thriving local economies,” said Secretary Raimondo. “EDA’s investments have helped countless communities invest in their local workers and businesses, and reauthorization means they will continue creating and saving jobs, and bringing new investment to every corner of our country.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they deliberate over the programs and institutions to authorize or reauthorize.
  • For Secretary Raimondo to seek God’s guidance as she oversees the Commerce Department.
