OSHA Announces Hazardous Working Conditions Settlement with Amazon

The company will provide ergonomic support to prevent musculoskeletal disorders.

Amazon settled allegations of hazardous working conditions with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) this month, agreeing to implement ergonomic support for workers and pay a $145,000 penalty for its violations.

OSHA found that Amazon work conditions caused fulfillment center workers to consistently develop serious lower back injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. To address this, Amazon will implement ergonomic requirements at all its fulfillment centers and submit annual updates on improvements at its facilities.

“This corporate-wide settlement agreement focuses on improving conditions for several hundred thousand Amazon workers nationwide,” said Assistant Secretary Douglas Parker. “The ball is in the company’s court. OSHA stands ready to work with their ergonomics team to evaluate their progress and verify the commitments they made to OSHA.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su to receive God’s direction as she heads the Labor Department.
  • For discernment for Assistant Secretary Douglas Parker as he oversees OSHA.
