The 81-year-old congresswoman had been missing from Congress for 6 months.
U.S. Representative Kay Granger, who has not cast a vote in Congress for the past six months, has become a resident at an assisted living facility with a memory care unit in Fort Worth, Texas. Her son acknowledged she has had dementia issues. Congresswoman Granger was reportedly moved into the facility after she was found wandering in her neighborhood.
Representative Granger’s office issued a statement, saying, “I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of care and concern over the past several days. As many of my family, friends, and colleagues have known, I have been navigating some unforeseen health challenges over the past year. However, since early September, my health challenges have progressed making frequent travel to Washington both difficult and unpredictable.”
She added, “During this time, my staff has remained steadfast, continuing to deliver exceptional constituent services, as they have for the past 27 years.”
Due to her inability to fulfill her role in Congress through the end of the current session, some have suggested that Representative-elect Craig Goldman be sworn in early.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Representative Granger and her family as they attend to her health needs.
- For wisdom for members of Congress as they consider term limits for the legislative branch.
