He urges DHS to deploy Robin Radar Systems in New York.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Sunday that he’s “working to pass a bill” for local law enforcement to better detect drones in their area. Northeastern states have reported multiple sightings of unidentified drones in the last few weeks. A runway at Newburgh, New York’s Stewart International Airport was shut down last week due to the number of unidentified drones in the airspace.
Senator Schumer has called on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to send “special drone detection tech” to address the issue but is drafting federal legislation to give states more permanent access to drone identification technology, most notably the Robin Radar System.
“If the technology exists for a drone to make it up into the sky, there certainly is technology that can track the craft with precision and determine what the heck is going on, and that’s what the Robin does,” Senator Schumer said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senator Schumer and other legislators as they seek answers regarding the unidentified drones.
- For federal and local law enforcement as they seek to solve the mystery of the thousands of UAS sightings.
