Joint exercises and workshops enhance resilience against cyber threats and chemical risks in critical port infrastructure across the Indo-Pacific
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in collaboration with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and U.S. Embassy Manila, held a maritime cybersecurity exercise and chemical security workshop in Manila earlier this month. The event focused on advanced cyberattacks on critical port systems and enhancing chemical risk management.
Philippine officials and private sector stakeholders worked with U.S. experts to assess emergency response procedures, improve coordination mechanisms, and strengthen public-private partnerships. Observers from Australia and Japan attended, building on regional collaboration initiatives like the U.S.-Japan-Philippines Trilateral Cyber & Digital Dialogue.
“The maritime domain underpins global economic security,” said Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Policy Robert Silvers. “Strengthening cybersecurity partnerships in the Indo-Pacific isn’t just about protecting infrastructure — it’s about securing the trade routes that drive economies and sustain international commerce.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Under Secretary Silvers as he oversees efforts to increase port and maritime cyber security.
- For DHS officials to seek God’s direction as they endeavor to protect national security.
