Twenty airports in 15 states will receive funding for construction or renovation.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that 20 airports will receive $20 million to construct or upgrade air traffic control towers in 15 states. The FAA selected small, regional airports to receive this funding, many of which operate critical services for rural communities such as passenger flights, cargo flights, emergency services, and pilot training.
“Today’s announcement demonstrates the FAA’s ongoing commitment to airports of all sizes. These upgrades will help ensure traveler safety for decades by providing our controllers better work environments that are also more accessible, secure, and sustainable,” said FAA Associate Administrator for Airports Shannetta Griffin.
